VPN

Please read this post entirely and follow the steps in order!

These steps are specifically tailored to our Premium TV Box. If you have your own/different model, certain menus may vary.

 
EXPLANATION

Some ISPs slow down your data when too much is used in a short period of time. What that means is your data is slowed down while using strenuous tasks on the network - such as streaming LIVE TV in high quality. Other streaming apps are compressed and are not live streaming, will NOT be affected! Live tv streaming is like having a CONSTANT download running.

 

**Every user experience will differ. You will know you are being throttled if you primarily experience issues in the evening/high peak times AND you freeze on every thing you try, while your daytime use is perfectly fine.
You can use a VPN (virtual private network) to direct your internet traffic through a private tunnel to where you need to be on the internet - rather than going to your ISP connection first and them being able to slow down - "throttle" your data.

 



BEFORE BEGINNING ANY STEPS BELOW: ENSURE YOU ARE ON THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE TV BOX! BEING ON AN OLD VERSION/IGNORING UPDATES CAN BE A POTENTIAL CAUSE OF ISSUES!
On the Home main screen of the tv box, open the "Software Update" app, and install any updates that are present

 



Step 1: Verify if it is a specific channel/VOD issue
**At times, certain channels/vod can have issues from the source and there would be nothing wrong on your end. You would know this is the case if for example all of your channels work correctly except for one specific one (ie showing error screen) or a specific vod not having audio/playing/etc. Please STOP following the steps and email us the full channel/vod name and problem to support@canadatvboxes.ca

 

 

Step 2: Verify speeds on tv box
Go to the main home screen of tv box
Open the green market app
Search for "Fast" app inside
Install the fast app and open it
Let the test run!

 

IF YOUR TEST SHOWS ABOVE 50-80MB HERE, PROCEED TO STEP 3!

 

 

***Step 3: Installing a VPN***
You are now at step 3 and you have verified that your speed test is OVER 50-80 and EVERY channel is freezing after trying MANY!
This confirms that your speed is good, but your data usage is being capped. Using a VPN connection, will tunnel all your data directly to where you need to be on the internet - rather than going to your ISP first and them having some control.

SELECT 1 MONTH PLANS AT THE TOP
SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM AND SELECT 1 MONTH BASIC
NO ADD ONS! The cheapest basic plan possible!

Step 4: Adding VPN to TV Box
1. Go to the main home screen of the TV box
2. Open the green market app
3. Search "Nord" and install NordVPN app
4. Open the NordVPN app and login to your new nordvpn account
5. Press the "Search" button inside the app
Type in "9034"
6. Press the one result "United States #9034"
7. Once NordVPN now shows connected, go back to the tv app and all will be as it is normally!
**You can also use #9031 #9015 #1655 #1447**

 

 

**A KEY symbol appears in top right of the screen when VPN is connected

 

**You can use your own VPN if you have one. Free ones are NOT recommended. EXPRESS VPN DOES NOT WORK!

 

***IF YOU CONNECT TO YOUR OWN VPN AND CANNOT LOAD ANY CHANNELS - CHANGE LOCATIONS!
Canada & USA are preferred however not all connections are allowed. Please use our recommendation above if facing issues using your own!

 

****If you have a slower speed connection, PLEASE ONLY turn on the VPN when you are experiencing these issues and verifying the above information.
